Serving as Mayor of Layton City and as a Davis County Commissioner has been one of the great honors of my life. Serving in both of these positions has given me a perspective of how wonderful a city, county, and state we live in. I believe in building an attitude of “Teamwork” and “Opportunity” as part of my leadership style. When serving in political leadership, the challenge becomes that of serving the people’s needs while maintaining the integrity and efficiency of the governing body. The results from both Team Davis County and Team Layton’s efforts are an example of how “New Leadership” can bring “New Life” into an organization. Government should not be an organization that accepts the philosophy, “that is the way we have always done it”. It’s time that we step out of the past and into the future. History is a lesson of what is to come. Just look back 30 years ago at our lifestyles, now look forward to 2055 and try to imagine what life will have in store for us. By working together, we will be able to give back to our children, grandchildren, and even our great-grandchildren the great opportunities of living here in the great State of Utah.
